At Poco Piano Studio we no longer offer individual instrumental tuition. Instead, students can enrol in our collaborative piano program! This allows students to develop the skills and techniques they would learn in individual lessons while also allowing them to develop their collaborative music making skills.
Having lessons in a group setting provides the students with access to more instruction time, allowing them to progress at a quicker pace. In addition to enjoying a more social learning environment, the increased time in group sessions provides students opportunities to develop a wide range of skills. In addition to developing their individual playing technique students an expect to develop their improvisation, composition, music theory and arranging skills.
How does it work?
Group piano sessions run for one hour.
Lessons contain both group and individual work, allowing students to develop both their individual and ensemble playing skills. During group sessions students will work on developing a wide-range of skills, including:
- Practical playing technique
- Music and sight reading
- Music theory
- Music technology
These sessions are flexible and are made up of a mix of individual and group activities depending on the needs of the students on the given day. Students can expect to be exposed to a wide-range of music and styles during their time at Poco Piano Studio.
Group Composition: Group sessions require a minimum of two students and will run with a maximum of four students. Students are placed in groups according to their age and ability.
Cost: Piano lessons run weekly during the school term at a cost of $45 per session. A flat fee for the classes is due at the start of every month. The fee is generated by calculating the cost of the years sessions (41 classes) and dividing this figure by 12 (months of the year). This allows the cost of lessons to be spread out equally throughout the year in twelve easy payments.
For 2019, the monthly cost for lessons is $153.
Due to the way the fee is calculated it needs to be paid every month, including when lessons are not in session. If the fee is not received by the due date, we can no longer guarantee your placement in the program.
Additional Costs: In addition to the class fees, students are expected to purchase required learning materials, such as sheet music, as well as their own instrument for at-home practice.
Payment: You will receive an invoice at the start of each month to be paid electronically through card. To ensure students are getting the most out of their lesson time we will not be accepting payment on site. You will receive an electronic receipt for all payments made.
Missed classes: Students forfeit the lesson fee for any missed classes, regardless of illness, as the lesson will still need to run for the other students enrolled in the session. Where possible, Jenny will try to arrange for the student to attend an alternative session when a lesson is missed due to illness, however this is not always possible.
Trial classes: Unfortunately we do not offer trial classes. If you would like to try out a month of sessions at Poco Piano Studio, use the booking form below to register your interest.
Time: group sessions are an hour in length. Students wishing to receive more time can register interest to enrol in another session.
